Part Ⅰ Introduction to Jilin Agricultural University
As one of the key provincial universities, Jilin Agricultural University JAU, founded in 1948, is among the first group to confer the bachelor and master degree, and in 1993, it was the first university that was authorized to confer doctor degree in Jilin Province. Jilin Agricultural University was designated the cooperative running university by the Ministry of Education and Jilin Government in 2011. The campus of JAU is situated in a picturesque and garden-like place, which makes an ideal place for teaching and learning. JAU has become a talent-cultivating and innovative base for the agricultural and rural development in Jilin Province.
JAU covers an area of l, 500 hectares, the campus area 31,902 hectares, and the total building area is 720,000 square meters. The total fixed assets are over 2.147 billion worth of RMB. The library has more than l, 670,000 volumes of books. The allocation of teaching and researching resources is reasonable.
JAU has a teaching staff of l,800, among whom l,085 are full-time teachers, 539 are professionals with high-level technical titles, one is a Chinese academician of Engineering and one is member of the Discipline Assessment Group of State Council. These staff forms a well-balanced, excellent-quality, vigorous, and high-level faculty. Now in the university, there are 18000 full-time students.
JAU presently comprises of 15 colleges, 1 postgraduate college and two teaching and research sections. JAU has 7 stations for post-doctoral research, 5 first-level doctoral disciplines, 21 second-level doctoral disciplines, 17 first-level master disciplines, 76 second-level master disciplines, 58 bachelor's disciplines, 1 ministerial-level and 13 provincial-level programs. Now JAU has 1state level scientific platform, 31 provincial and ministerial level scientific platforms, 4 international platforms and 315 teaching bases for students.
Since the beginning of the tenth Five-year Plan, 1732 Research projects of Chinese National Programs for High Technology Research and Development and provincial teaching reform programs have been undertaken by JAU, 979 Scientific research achievements have been made and 230 research awards above the provincial level have been obtained, including five awards of National Natural Science Award, the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the State Technological Invention Award.
The university places a great value on international communication and cooperation. It has established relationships with more than 40 foreign countries, such as the U. S., Japan, South Korea, and Russia. So far, JAU has sent thousands of teachers abroad to the countries, such as the U. S., Japan, South Korea, and Canada, to do scientific research and attend the international conferences. As the first provincial college that carries out the national foreign-aid program, JAU attaches great importance to and vigorously carries out the foreign-aid program, and undertakes the construction of the first national agricultural technology demonstration center to Africa——Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in Zambia. In 2012, the cooperation on biotechnology undergraduate education program between JAU and the University of Camerino is approved by the Ministry of Education, which demonstrates that our internationalization level of higher education has reached a new height in history.
JAU has developed international students’ education for nearly 20 years. In 2007, international education college was formally established. In 2011 and 2013, JAU was authorized to receive Jilin government scholarship and Chinese government scholarship students. Presently, the university has established an education system which gives priority to high-level graduate degree education and supplemented by short-term and long-term exchange programs, combining professional and technical education with Chinese culture education for students. JAU provides well-equipped hardware facilities for international students and the campus is equipped with the hospital, supermarket, restaurant and other service agencies. The university has library, gymnasium, swimming pool, and outdoor activities fields for basketball, volleyball, football. JAU has a dynamic teaching and management team with solid professional ability.
Part Ⅱ International Students Program
In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and people from all
over the world, Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students,
teachers and scholars to study and research in Chinese higher education institutions. For further information,

Ⅰ. DISCIPLINES AND MAJORS
International students can apply for any master and doctoral programs or non-degree program which our university is entitled to provide. For more details please refer to the attached file #1.
Ⅱ. CATEGORIES OF APPLICANTS AND DURATION
1. We only offer full-time programs for applicants.

Ⅲ. VALUES OF SCHOLARSHIP
Chinese Government Scholarship falls into two categories: full scholarship and partial scholarship.
1. Full scholarship
(1)Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, comprehensive medical insurance and accommodation fee for dormitory on campus(twin room);
(2)Monthly living allowance is paid to the students from the date of registration at the following rates (CNY
yuan per month):
Master degree students: CNY 3000 yuan/MONTH
Doctoral degree students: CNY 3500 yuan/MONTH
(3) International travel expenses: self-afforded.
2. Partial scholarship
One or some items of the full scholarship (one-off settlement subsidy and one-off inter-city travel allowance
excluded).
Ⅳ. ELIGIBILITY
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health.
2. Applicants must not be students in Chinese universities at the time of application (or at least one year after graduation in China).
3. Education background and age limit:

Ⅴ. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
Applicants must fill in and provide the following materials fully and correctly (in duplicate).
1. International Students Application Form for Jilin Agricultural University, in Chinese or in English (see the attached file #2) and with passport-size photos. Please provide the detailed information completely.
2. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship. The CSC Online Application System for Study in China is available on http://laihua.csc.edu.cn.Those who are available for online application shall fill in and print the application form after submitting it online. Those who cannot apply online shall contact the dispatching authorities to get the application form and fill it truly, correctly and completely.
3. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy) and photocopies of the final degree certificate obtained. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.
4. Proof of student status or current employer’s introductory letter if applicants are university students or currently employed. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.
5. Applicants for master degree studies are required to provide notarized copy of college transcripts. Applicants for doctoral degree studies are required to provide notarized copy of master degree’s courses transcripts.
6. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words for undergraduates).
7. Applicants for master or doctoral degree studies must submit 2 letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.
8. Foreigner’s Physical Examination Form(Download from http://www.csc.edu.cn), one original and one photocopy. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner’s Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.

2. Notes.
Each applicant can only apply for ONE scholarship under the Chinese Government Scholarship Programs.
Applicants should note only one scholarship may be granted, even if they apply for more than one scholarship or
more than one institution. CSC reserves the right to choose one scholarship or one university for the applicant.

Ⅶ. VISA APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION
1. Visa Application
Students should apply for visa to study in China at the Chinese embassy or consulate-general with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202/JW201) and Foreigner Physical Examination Form and valid passport. Those who will study in China for more than 6 months must apply for “X1” visa, and those who will study in China for less than 6 months (including 6 months) can apply for“X2”visa. Students must come to China and register with institutions with the original copies of the above documents. Students who come to China with other types of passports, visas or without the original documents will not be able to register with institutions, nor will they be able to apply for the residence permit in China.
2. Registration
Autumn term will usually start on September 1st. Students must register with the institutions within the set time with original Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202/JW201) and Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Those who are unable to register on time must get permission from the institution directly.
3. Health Verification and Residence Permit
Health verification: Students who are to stay in China for more than 6 months are requested to bring their passports, Admission Notice, the original Foreigner Physical Examination Form and the Blood Test Report to the local health quarantine office to have their medical examination reports verified. Students who do not meet the requirements of the above authority will be required to re-take the medical examination. Those who refuse to re-take the medical examination or are diagnosed with diseases that are not permitted to stay in China according to the Chinese laws and regulations will be required to leave China.
Residence Permit: After the health verification, students must apply for residence permit to the local police authority with their passports, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202/JW201) within 30 days upon their arrival.
Expenses incurred in the procedures above shall be covered by students themselves.
